Teutenberg makes it two in a row as drama plays out behind.

April 3, 2005
Redlands, CA. Ina Teutenberg made it two in a row winning the Sunset road race today concluding
the Redlands Progel bicycle classic. The race had drama and excitement from the start as the top three places on GC
were separated by only 7 seconds. To make things even tougher on the tired field was the fact that the first KOM came just
7 miles into the race with time in addition to points given. Webcor's Erinne Willock drove the pace hard right as the flag
dropped. She was assisted by T-Mobile's Teutenberg and Quark's Grace Fleury. As the KOM approached Genevieve Jeanson was first
to jump shadowed by Annette Beutler of Quark but the efforts of Webcor's tandem of Christine Thorburn and Willock powered
by to take 1 and 2 and the bonus seconds attached with Quark's Beutler third picking up 1 seond. This gave Thorburn
a 7 second advantage over T-Mobile's Kim Baldwin and 8 over Quark's Beutler. The efforts chasing the KOM split the field
and a group containing Thorburn, Willock, Bladwin and Armstrong of T-mobile as well as Quarks Beutler and Monex rider Lynn
Gaggioli. T-Mobile and Gaggioli drove the pace and the break maintaining a lead of about a minute and a half. After
3 laps away the efforts of Victory Brewing was able to bring the gap down to 15 seconds as riders then attempted to bridge
the gap to the leaders. Teutenberg of T-Mobile was the only rider to make the jump and she then attacked the breakaway
going solo. As Teutenberg was no threat on GC, Webcor and Quark and the GC riders of T-Mobile concentrated on watching
each other and the chess game began. Eventually the main filed of riders came back together at the front as Teutenberg powered
away. Coming down the final climb into the finish Teutenberg came across the line 57 seconds ahead of the field, A huge cheer
went up for the daring escape but all heads stayed glued to the finishing stretch to see how the final GC would be determined.
First around the finishing corner was Quark's Beutler followed by teammate Tina Pic. Amy Moore of Victory Brewing came across
the line for forth with a small gap to the yellow jersey clad Thorburn. Beutler picked up 6 seconds for her finish and Thorburn
none so the final GC would all depend on how the officials scored the race finish. In the end Thorburn's last huge effort
in the closing meters was enough to earn her the right to pull the final yellow jersey over her head, with Beutler 2 seconds
behind, followed by Baldwin 13 seconds behind. In the team competition T-Mobile won as well as the green sprinters jersey
for Teutenberg. Quark's Beutler went home in red for winning the climbers competition.

Teutenberg takes Redlands Downtown Crit by

April 2, 2005
Redlands, CA. Today racers took to the streets of Downtown Redlands
to contest the Beaver Medical criterium. Before today's race it is important to correct information about the Oak Glen Stage
Race. In the break of six that got away Victory Brewing's Amy Moore was present not Vello Bello's Elizabeth Begosh. Moore's
work was instrumental and allowed for the break to stay away and gain as much time on the filed as it did before the final
climb up. She climbed well up Oak Glen and had a strong finish for Victory Brewing at 13th on the stage. Today's race was
fast from the gun as battle lines were drawn with each team trying to protect there positions leading into tomorrows Sunset
Road race. T-Mobile and Webcor wanted to establish a break so that the midway time bonus could be won by non GC riders
protecting the team leader's position in the overall. Quark tried to keep it together in order to gain points for the sprinters
jersey and attempt to improve the overall position of Annette Beutler who was only 9 seconds out of first. In the first sprint
for points Quarks Laura Van Gilder took the points over Lara Kroepsch of T-mobile who were away in a break. The filed sprint
was won by Quarks Green jersey clad Helen Kelly. As the second sprint approached the field was together and Ina Teutenberg
of T-Mobile came around the corner first, taking the 3 seconds and the points, she then put her head down and powered
away. Quarks Annette Beutler took second and the 2 second time bonus moving her with 1 second of Kim Baldwin and 7 of the
yellow jersey worn by Christine Thorburn of Webcor. As Teutenberg was blasting off the front Andrea Ratkovic of the
Bicycle Store was able to respond and get up to Teutenberg's wheel and the two were away for good. In the end the great German
sprinter was able to drop Ratkovic on the last lap and finished with her arms raised high as she not only won the day but
pulled the sprinters jersey over her head for the points she earned on the road. Quarks Tina Pic was able to win the filed
sprint for third to round out the podium while Thorburn and her teammates were able to rest for what will sure to be an exciting
finish to the Redlands Classic.

Sun Shines upon Oak Glen and Quark by

April 1, 2005
Redlands, CA. The second stage of the ProGel Redlands bicycle classic was contested today under bright
clear sunshine with the famous Santa Ana winds once again blowing. The peloton was hesitant at first to brave the winds and
most riders were seeking the shelter of the peloton when the first sprint of the day took place with Quark rider Helen Kelly
taking the points and an early lead in the sprinter competition. Countering off the sprint was T-mobile's Ina Teutenberg who
forged herself a lead that fluctuated between 1 and 2 minutes for the next 50 km. Eventually the wind and the solo
effort worn down Teutenberg and the pack was all together for the final sprint of the day which was once again taken by
Quark's Helen Kelly, securing her the Green Jersey. Still up for grabs was the climbers jersey and the stage win and
riders were eager to get a jump on the climbers before the final climb up Oak Glen. A break containing Quark's Tina Pic, Chrissy
Ruiter of Ford-Basis, Belem Guerrero of the Mexican National Team, Elizabeth Begosh of Vello Bella escaped and built up a
3 minute lead before the hill tilted upward. Along for the ride protecting their team leaders position were and T-Mobile's
Mari Holden and Webcor's Katheryn Curi. Once the climb up Oak Glen began it just became a matter of time before the
escapees were caught and the climbers took their rightful place at the front of the peloton on a mountain top finish.
Tina Pic Quarks super sprinter showed she is more then that by staying with a select group climbers containing Webcor's Christine
Thorburn and Erinne Willock, Kim Baldwin and Kristen Armstrong of T- Mobile. Joining Pic in this group of climbers was her
teammate Annette Beutler. First to attack in the final kilometers was Bladwin whose efforts dropped Willock who had done the
early pace making for her yellow clad teammate Thorburn. After Bladwin, Thorburn put in a huge pull and T-mobile's Armstrong
countered but was unable to get an advantage. With 500 meters to go Quark's Beutler attacked and left her climbing partners
behind to cross the finish line in first 6 seconds ahead of Baldwin and 10 ahead of Thorburn. Beutler's victory earned her
the Red climbers jersey and Thorburn was able to hold on to her overall lead but the top of the GC tightened up and will make
for some very interesting racing in the next two days.

Redlands, CA. Christine Thorburn (Webcor) over came a very difficult field as well as winds gusting
to over 50 mph to win the Watermaker Mount Rubidoux Time Trail in the opening stage of the ProGel Redlands Bicycle Classic.
Thorburn was the only rider to break the 10:00 minute mark posting a time of 9:59 for the 5 Km prologue. Not only did
Thorburn pull the leaders jersey over her national time trail champions jersey, she also earned a starting position
for The Pan/American games to be held the last week of April. Four seconds back in second place was T-Mobile's Kristen
Armstrong followed by Genevieve Jeanson riding for the Bicycle Store. Quark riders Annette Beutler and Tina Pic had solid
rides and are lurking just 25 and 35 seconds back in 7th and 9th place respectively. The riders will face the 77 mile
Sun Oak Glen road race on Friday whose finishing climb is sure to create some excitement amongst the GC leaders.
